My name is Daniel Reitz and I am an electrical engineer.
My technical interests include electronic systems and digital signal processing.
Originally, I wanted to equip my remote-controlled drone with an altimeter for ground distance measurement.
After noticing the disadvantages of ultrasound- and light-based systems and after an intensive search not finding any radar-based modules with correspondingly large measuring distances at affordable prices, I had decided to develop my own radar altimeter.
Above all, it should be inexpensive, so that it can be considered as an option for a broad mass of interested.
I selected two frequency ranges:
- 4.2-4.4 GHz: (currently) only for certified aircraft
- 24.00-24.25 GHz: freely usable frequency range
